Younique News Bulletin – Elle’s 2nd Facebook Page Removed

Elle's 2nd Facebook Page Removed

After deciding to unpublish my original Facebook page in June 2018, the Facebook overlords have Zucc’d my backup page, ‘Elle Beau Emergency Shelter‘. If things go the way they did for my original one, and Timeless Vie‘s Facebook page, its highly unlikely that it will be reinstated. 😮

Do Facebook even know what their community standards are?

Its highly unlikely. I have my suspicions, even more so when I think of how Timeless Vie lost their original Facebook page. Not even a petition could get Facebook to reverse their decision. The Internet’s most trusted scam buster, Ethan Vanderbuilt, has also found his Facebook page and YouTube channel taken down, but thankfully reinstated.

I just can’t put my finger on why this has happened a second time. I have a feeling it won’t be the last time either. I mean, just what is Facebook’s stance on multi-level marketing schemes?

On January 11th, 2018, Facebook mastermind Mark Zuckerberg announced that the social media giant would be changing its News Feed algorithm to prioritize content from “friends, family and groups.”

“As we roll this out,” Zuckerberg wrote, “You’ll see less public content like posts from businesses, brands, and media. And the public content you see more will be held to the same standard—it should encourage meaningful interactions between people.”

For further reading on this, take a look at How the Facebook Algorithm Works and How to Make it Work for You via Hootsuite.

This announcement had the MLM sellers up in arms – how could they make sure they beat the Facebook algorithms to ensure their sales posts were seen? That’s a story for another day, but my point is, Facebook’s stance appears skewered to me.

Judging by the tonnes of “sponsored posts” appearing on my newsfeed from MLM #bossbabes, Facebook has got to be making a nice little revenue stream from these people? Maybe Zucc’s friends-in-high-places have a vested interest in this industry; therefore, anti-MLMers are seen as damaging for business. Who knows?

When this happened to Timeless Vie, they believed it could have been retaliation by either pro-MLM industry participants, or “others who were unhappy with the campaign’s ability to change the conversation around women, Mormonism, feminism and multi-level marketing companies.”  For examples of their previous successes, please see “Major Charity Foundation drops MLM “Safe Girl” from awards after outcry”  or “Social Selling company Stella & Dot loses partnership after outcry on social media.”

What happens next?

Timeless Vie eventually went on to set up a new Facebook page, ‘Timeless Vie Emergency Shelter.’ I have decided to be an annoying little zot by setting up a third Facebook page, but its main purpose now will be to auto-post useful anti-MLM content as opposed to regular interaction with you all, at least until I can find out what tomfoolery is afoot.

What I will miss is interaction I have with my Facebook followers. good and bad – there are a lot of you, and I hope you’ll be able to find me on my other mediums.

For sole Facebook users, I’ll still be contactable under our joint coalition Facebook page, ‘The Anti-MLM Coalition.’ I have various other social media accounts you can follow me on…although as Instagram walks hand-in-hand with Facebollocks, I do wonder how long I’ll be residing on there. 😉
