The Little Purple Younique Card

You may have seen a Y-hun on your newsfeed refer to “her little purple card”. I certainly did, back when Scarlett was bragging about the things she had bought back in Chapter 9. However, I never really used my card so I couldn’t give you as much tell-all information on it. Not so fortunately for her, my fellow ex-Pooniquer Maz Carrah did.

credit card whats that

“…The one time I remember genuinely using this card was in Tesco. It was the only account I had any money left in as I had been saving my commission up for a couple of months. I needed to buy food for my children…”

Maz has produced an excellent article detailing, in brutal honesty, the true worthlessness of the card, the fees associated with it and the effect it had on her as a single-parent. Read the full story here.
I think it is so, so important that we continue to be honest about our MLM experiences. There are so many former huns I’ve spoken to who are completely ashamed and embarassed by what happened – we need others like Maz (and I) to come forward and show folk that they are not alone. We’ve all fallen into the MLM trap, but you can get out.
Don’t forget to check out Maz’s new anti-MLM blog. Although we plan to frequently collaborate on articles together, Maz also has her own #Poonique tale that she wishes to share – watch this space!

Ways to take part in the anti-MLM movement:

  • Join the MLM fight on social media – if you’re on Twitter, please give @ElleBeauBlog a follow (and help me get the #Poonique hashtag trending again!). Alternatively, join in the discussion with Elle Beau, the Anti-Blogger on Facebook. I am also on Instagram now – look for @ellebeaublog!
  • Check out Maz Carrah on WordPress, Facebook and Twitter!
  • If you enjoy what I do, consider being my Patreon and helping me work towards my target of getting an anti-MLM novella completed.
  • Are you stuck in a MLM and are looking for a way to leave? My friends at Bot Watch have produced a fantastic guide on how to get out – read it here.
  • Or, are any of you concerned for a loved one who is totally and utterly wrapped up in MLM? Bot Watch have advice for you on what to do and how to remain supportive – read it here.
  • Please, also check out the good work of the people of Bot Watch, Juice Plus/MLM Lies Exposed and Timeless Vie. They work tirelessly to expose the truth and lies of the MLM industry, so anyone considering this line of work can make a fair, informed decision . In fact, I now have a Recommended Reading page for Anti-MLM writers and interesting lifestyle bloggers I think you will enjoy, such as Chammy in Real Life.
  • For something a little different to pyramid schemes, I would also recommend a look at what Bad Psychics are up to. Award-winning and seen-on-TV, they have worked to expose false claims made by psychics, mediums and the paranormal since 2003.

  1. Just binged the entire 15 chapters in one go, came here via Reddit front page. A fascinating story really well told about an industry where you rarely get this kind of thoughtful insight. Certainly agree about the financial cult aspect of MLM, we are but poor, foolish humans and insanely overtrusting of status figures. Speaking as a journalist, I would have thought you could pitch a condensed version to any magazine editor and get snapped up – is this something you’ve considered? Again, great writing.
